Final social distancing haiku. Week twelve.

Three sisters apart
Dealing with a world in fear
Damn COVID-19

In Iloilo…
Rainy season here
Open to dine, but slow sales
Keep business in fear

In Vancouver…
Fast growing baby
A light in world of crazy
As Trudeau kneels too

In New Jersey…
Quarantine over
A new virus sweeps nation:
Distrust and anger

Written June 5, 2020
Original sketch by my friend Jon Franco. Like a lot of folks these days, he’s been rediscovering his talents and love of drawing. All this boldness and creativity reemerging is one bright light in the midst of this pandemic.

About this poem: Intended three separate haiku from the perspective of each sister living in a different part of the world.
